This huge family shoot was full of love and fun. One of the biggest shoots I have done and it was extremely fun. They lost one of the patriarchs in their family a few years ago, and every year they decided to come together in a big way and celebrate his legacy of faith, fun and love. I got the pleasure of being the family’s photographer this year and they made me feel like I was one of them (I even got invited to the family dinner… yes I went… the food was incredible). The 4th of July, is a holiday that many people celebrate by gathering your family and friends together, sharing a great meal and enjoying a day in the sun. Needless to say, this shoot, like the holiday, exemplified what family fun looks like. It was such a blessing to see a bunch of beautiful black creatives. And that made this black photographer’s heart smile… and his lens very happy.
